is that casual?
no jamie lidell. no bonfire. but we heard some of beck's set / watched a tiny sliver of it. but we heard fans talking good talks about mr. lidell. anyways.....
over at my old kentucky blog they have a great collection of covers of the Leonard Cohen classic "Hallelujah". so basically anyone who has sung it is up there. enjoy

almost done
after 2 rolls of double sided tape,
2 cans of spray adhesive
5 trips to university art
1 trip to michaels
6 trips to office max
2 trips to the sjsu print shop
2 trips to sjsu design office
at least 40 trips from my room to my garage
4 cutting blades
i think i am done. well there is 1 more thing i have to do, but i have all day to do that 10 minute piece of work.
but here is the final project of the semester. it is supposed to be a kiosk that would stand up in front of a venue at the olympic games, my event is Freestyle Skiing, so this would stand 10 feet high (1" equals 1' scale), and serve as an informative piece for bystanders to look at.
all the while i listened to the octopus project album about 5 times.

honestly, don't pass this up
jamie lidell is playing at the mezzanine in san francisco on thursday, june 29. i would suggest just buying a ticket ($15) even if you don't know who he is. i'll drive you guys up there to see him. i just think sometime in the next few weeks you all can scrounge up $15 and buy a ticket so that you will be very happy on that night (and probably for a few weeks following).
thats all i ask. who's in?

maybe this was stress
all the reasons i stressed out this week are over.
survivor.
amazing race.
sharks.
1 of them made me happy.
my portfolio isnt stressing me out. im running around in a very productive manner and i feel good about it. i still dont feel as if my work is good enough to make it to the next level, but i feel good about being productive and taking the time to work out minor details in my pieces. maybe when they are done ill make a little portfolio for you all to see. but im happy about the way i've lived the past 2 days (that sounds weird). but i get up at 8 or 8:30 instead of sleeping in, and i work on my stuff for a bit, grab some tea, work more, print stuff at school, mount the prints, grab lunch, work more. although ive been running around the house a lot, i feel sucessful in a "im not going to make it to the next stage of the program, but i feel good about my work" kind of way.
16 days from takeoff. maybe im excited.

Speed 4: The Lake House
"just when you thought keanu and sandra ran out of speed......they sped things up, down at the lake house"
i dont know why i am advertising this
ok, based on the poster alone, you can tell Neo is a ghost or something of the past.
i really dont know why i care about this, i think i just wanted to be the first person to call it speed 4. mark the date. best week ever will get this at some point

today
this was/is my checklist for my portfolio.
running around my house working on it caused me to:
run out of breath once
get a cramp
enhance my dreams last night.
what has got me through it so far is:
Mylo - Muscle Cars
and
Cloud Cult - Moving To Canada

very close
every once in a while it will hit me. the windows down as im driving somewhere after the sun has gone down. myself, dressed in shorts and sandals and a t-shirt. the unknown words from some language being sung in my ear. the smell of a dirty alleyway behind a restaurant.
i know it doesnt sound great, but it reminds me so much of the past. the summers i spent in mexico or china. its not like sweltering heat and terrible smells are reasons to get excited. but tonight as i was listening to carolina by seu jorge, with the windows down, and the breeze that was not cold was blowing in the car, and the rotten smell reminded me of driving through mexico in the high school days (i am not saying mexico smells, nor am i saying seu jorge is spanish or mexican).
i guess it gets me excited:
to leave
to wear sandals
to drive with the windows down and turn the music up
to dance to portugese music
to not worry about the winter olympics anymore
to have extra daylight
to put aloe vera on my sunburns
to read books on airplanes/trains
to hear other languages and not care to know their meaning
to drink iced green tea
to have bonfires
to do sweat-hole en route to the beach
to eat bbq/fresh watermelon
to spend sunday at the beach and then church

im in this state of loving music. moreso than before. but now im in this "theres so much i want to hear but i have to choose one song" kind of mood, thanks to apple computers. i think coachella brought me to a new level or something. i never danced or clapped as much as i have there. it wasnt applause clapping, but it was to the music. with that attitude mixed with my boredom from local shows, it makes the local shows worse now.
the music that is taking me over:
Candy Bars - Violets
Hot Chip - Boy From School
Akron/Family - Running, Returning

info and prayer
there is this customer at our store who had hung out with us off and on. he got the same thing every day. he is 29, life was going alright. on saturday he had a headache. he went to lay down. he woke up after vomiting and having no control of his bowels (during sleep). on tuesday he calls our friend and she takes him to the hospital. he had an aneurysm (leakage in the brain). they do surgery. he wakes up from the surgery and has a stroke. right now he is in icu. its crazy. again ill say he's 29. his family lives in japan, so we (starbucks) are like his temporary family. pray for him and all that junk.
