seriously, what are your thoughts on this logo for the olympics in london. i am sure the world hates it for being too extreme and too complicated and too non-london. but i love it. not for the sake of being an opposition and loving what the world hates. but for the sake of how london-esque this is. look at album art by Hot Chip:

i will be the only person to fully back this design because of how right it is with everything. but please, i want everyone who reads this to comment with your thoughts, except for that guy who leaves comments about all those prescription drugs.

Can Fido Dido be the mascot? That's the only way I can see it working.

If Hot Chip was going to compete in the 2012 olympics then it would be a better fit, but I don't think the global athletetic industry would dig it. Also, the current fashion in London won't mean anything to the Romanian gymnasts that are going to whoop ass in their irredescent leotards.

I hate it. I think it's ugly.
On a more practical level: I think it's alright in terms of younger age groups and whatnot, and yeah, it represents some trends that are going on. But the Olympics go back thousands of years and I think their image should be something a bit more timeless. It's also an event for everyone, not just a younger crowd, and should span a wider demographic.
And that's graphic design talk.

Okay, so I got that from Wiki. I've been trying to think of a proper response to this, but all I can really say is thanks, but no thanks. It's an ugly logo. For all it's attempt at being modern, it's really just reaching back to the days of Maui & Sons t-shirts and hideous parachute pants. Do we really need to repeat that, even if it is coming back into vogue ? Please, no.
