everything i hate about america is at shopping malls

i hated going to oakridge today. for the 10 minutes i was there i saw what i think is slightly the downfall of civilization. i know that is pretty extreme, but here is everything i saw:

driving up trying to get parking. there is an open spot but the lady in front is waiting for the close spot, 2 cars closer to the entrance, waiting for that driver to leave/causing me to wait, when in turn she could have been out of the car and walking at that point.

right at the entryway: m&m's machine and 2 soda machines. its the first things that kids would see upon entering, and the candy machine is a bright yellow with the m&m guys on it, attracting children, and when parents will say no to them, thus the screaming begins in a public setting with parents not doing much about it, assuming the children will stop.

the screaming kids in a public setting with parents not doing much about it, assuming the children will stop.

a heavier dude, with a razorback tank top with lots of back/arm hair sticking out, was sitting on a bench finishing off one carl's jr. burger and opening up a second's packaging. at the same time as drinking a large soda with the slurping through the straw sound going on. thinking about that scenario made we want to be vegan (brian gives rob a high five).

the carl's jr logo itself....

its not so much the star, but its the name in text. first off Carl's Junior must mean the son of Carl. and it's weird to brand that into the name of a restaurant. secondly, that apostrophe is huge in comparison with the rest of the text. pretend the words are at 14 pt typesize, the apostrophe is at 20 or so. finally, i hate red and yellow. the thought of those colors together make me never want to eat fast food (which is ok with me).

one lady walking out to her car with about 7 bags in her arms, all from different stores, clicking the unlock button for her car on her keychain and trying to dial a number on her phone.

finally, i hate most customers, i am one a lot, but im not the kind that take time to answer their phone the exact moment that the employee is trying to do their job. 10-15 seconds isnt a long time to wait to call someone back, or put them on hold.

all in all i view americans as greedy, fast-paced gluttons with no appreciation for anyone. and i saw it all in 10 minutes.

Someone told me once that the combination of red and yellow elicits some mental response that makes you think you're hungry. I haven't bothered to research that, but at one point every fast food joint has had a red and yellow logo (even Taco Bell, and its midwestern competition, Taco John's). Carl's Jr and Hardee's are both really gross names for a place to eat.

Anyway, safe travels !! Steal me that world cup football !
